    What's New and What's Happening!



    This space details happenings with the OFOF website and OFOF activities to provide a one-stop overview of what has been done and what is scheduled to be done with respect to the Oroville Foundation of Flight.



    1/11/02 - New Officers Installation Dinner scheduled for the Moose Hall in Oroville. Bob Foster, EAA 1112 '02 Pres., Dave Harmacek, OFOF '02 Pres.

    1/09/02 - The move of the website from About.com (that terminated web hosting) to eaa-oroville.8k.com is completed.

    tbd - lots of stuff to catch up on for the year '01

    2/17/01 - Grand Opening! - First EAA Brunch held at the Hut.

    2/15/01 - Hooked up counter/sink assy to water and drain. Test.

    2/1/01 - Four fire extinguishers installed

    1/26/01 - Outside electrical all complete (except wiring to wall and Terry's Glen).

    1/25/01 - Inside electrical all complete.

    1/19/01 - DES (Dew Extraction System) complete and east and west.

    1/8/01 - Install east wall finish panels.

    1/5/01 - Install east man door.

    12/28/00 - Install drain line from separator to perf and drain field.

    12/26/00 - Installed framing/furring and install finish panels on West wall.

    12/21/00 - Dig Hut drain line to separator and separator hole. Installed separator and line to separator.

    12/21/00 - Hooked up water supply for Hut from existing trunk line.

    12/21/00 - Completed Installation of conduit, receptacles, switches and west indoor/outdoor entrance lights.

    12/16/00 - North Bank of fluorescent lights installed and lighted

    12/9/00 - South Bank of fluorescent lights installed and lighted!

    12/7/00 - North wall installed using Millard Sturgeon's crane truck (again- He did the flagpoles too).

    circa 12/1/00 - North Wall fabric repair completed and ready to install.

    circa 11/30/00 - West door installed and ramp to door surfaced with gravel.

    11/17/00 - POWER TO THE PROJECT! - PG&E finally installed the meter and turned on the power.

    11/16/00 - More conduit work, fabric inspection ongoing, no PG&E meter installed yet.

    11/15/00 - General membership meeting - Elected 2001 Officers - Pres., Dave Harmacek - V.P., Dan Cook - Sec., Chuck/Catherine Heindell - Tres., Gary Briley.

    11/13/00 - Wire electrical outlets and overhead lighting in progress

    11/13/00 - PG&E connected power at head end, meter installation remains to be accomplished (allegedly imminent).

    10/31/00 - Dave Harmacek completed installation of 16" skirt weatherproofing on bottom of east and west walls.

    10/25/00 - Updated What's New and added new photos of Hut re-assy process.

    10/25/00 - City inspection of the electical panel requested to prepare for PG&E hookup.

    10/23-24/00 - Constructed Hut end service box support, install service box and hookup electrical. Installed receptacles for 240v and 120v on box support.

    10/21/00 - Saturday Pot Luck Lunch at Terry's Glen - 12 Noon was held in the newly erected Hut. The Hut was officially named the Dan Cook Briefing Hut in recognition of all Dan's work in making it a reality.

    10/17-18/00 - Installed Hut cover and ends.

    10/13/00 - Completed re-assy of hut frame on new pad.

    10/5-6/00 - Assembled meter box on pole at head end, installed weather head and pulled wire ready for PG&E and installed pole on our side.

    10/4/00 - Revised "What's New" schedule, added photos of electrical cable burial to Hut Electrification page.

    10/4/00 - Concrete block retaining wall laid on north end of Donor's Wall courtesy of Bob Foster using surplus concrete from pad pour.

    10/4/00 - Work party to assist concrete pour and finisher in placement of concrete Hut pad - Done

    10/2/00 - Dan Cook procured pole from Koppers (donated by Koppers - Thank You Koppers) and transported pole to head end of electrical cable. Ditch backfill completed.

    9/29/00 - Dug electrical cable burial ditch (Outsourced Ditch Witch + Ron's backhoe), installed wire, partial backfill w/sand and dirt.

    9/27/00 - Added photos of foundation prep and electrical ground wire

    9/26/00 - 4pm - Concrete pour - Postponed due to lack of inspection/permit.

    9/22/00 -- Work party to dig power line burial ditch - Postponed due to lack of backhoe/driver

    9/20/00 - Added photos of Hut framework disassembly.

    9/18-21/00 - Work party to build forms and place re-bar for concrete Hut pad. Drove ground rods for electrical power.

    9/10/00 - Added new photos to the Hut, Electrification, OFOF Home, and EAA Photo Activities pages.

    9/8/00 - Ron Turner removed part of a mound of dirt adjacent to the airport fence in the vicinity of our planned service pole to allow power line burial.

    9/5/00 - OFOF work party disassembled Hut framework and transported to Hut/hanger site. All OK, no injuries. :-)

    9/5/00 Oroville City Council voted to approve consent item on OFOF lease revision to allow electric power line burial installation.

    9/4/00 - Added OFOF and EAA photos

    9/4/00 - Added OFOF "View From The Top" page.

    8/31/00 - Work party to remove the PV cover, pressure wash, and transport to OFOF hut/hanger site - Done

    8/30/00 - Updated OFOF Minutes page, Fund Raising page and What's New page

    8/30/00 - OFOF luncheon meeting, followed by placement of rope work for rollup of PV cover

    8/30/00 - California Bear Flag raised on new South Flagpole for first time.

    8/30/00 - Added "What's New" page to website

    8/29/00 - Added "Fund Raising" page to website

    8/24/00 - AM - Work party inspection and prep on PV Hut prior to disassy. PM - Work party placed #2 and #3 flagpoles in place on the OFOF site at the Donor's Wall.

    8/23/00 - OFOF luncheon meeting

    8/16/00 - Membership meeting and BBQ at OFOF Terry's Glen with "Women in Aviation" theme.
